Chicagoans called 311 almost 10,000 times about loud planes.

What’s up with all this airplane noise?

Okay so, Chi-Town on the wire — you already know. Let's talk about what's really happening at City Hall, not what they want you to think. I'm looking at the 311 service requests, and nah nah nah, let me explain. The number one complaint, besides just calling 311 for info, is *aircraft noise*. Almost ten thousand calls, 9,894 to be exact, just about planes making noise. That’s more than potholes and graffiti *combined*.

Think about that. People are calling more about the sky than the streets. Are we just used to the potholes now? Like, is that just our normal? I'm telling you, it’s wild. And then you got 1,827 requests for graffiti removal, and 2,288 for potholes. But the planes? Almost 10K. This ain’t just O’Hare noise, people. This is our city.

**What Does This Mean?**

It tells you what’s bothering residents right now. It's not the big development projects we often hear about, not yet anyway. It's the everyday stuff, the noise when you're trying to sleep on the Northwest Side, or when you’re out at Promontory Point trying to enjoy a sunset.

And get this, almost 1,400 people tried to request tree trimming, even though the city isn't accepting those requests anymore. That just shows you how frustrated people are. They’re still trying to get help for something that's literally been shut down. You gotta wonder what's going on that people are so fed up with the noise. We need to keep an eye on how the city responds to these quality-of-life issues, not just the big flashy stuff.
