Chicago, your planes are louder than your potholes. Seriously.

Your planes are too loud, Chicago. Seriously.

Okay so, Chi-Town on the wire — you already know. Let's talk about what's happening, like, right now, with your city.

Your Neighbors Are Mad About Noise, Not Just Potholes

Nah nah nah, let me explain. You know how everyone complains about potholes? The ones that swallow your car whole on Cicero, or make your teeth rattle on Lake Shore Drive? Turns out, that's not what people are calling 311 about the most. According to the latest 311 service requests, the number two complaint, like, by a *lot*, is aircraft noise. We're talking 9,447 requests for aircraft noise complaints, which is almost triple the 2,944 calls for potholes.

* **Top 311 Calls:**

* 311 Information Only Call: 12,526

* Aircraft Noise Complaint: 9,447

* Pothole in Street Complaint: 2,944

* Graffiti Removal Request: 1,943

It’s wild, right? We’re always griping about the streets, but apparently, the noise from above is really getting to people. Maybe it's those O'Hare flight paths over the North Side, or Midway's constant buzz on the Southwest Side. It really makes you wonder what kind of sleep people are getting when they're calling the city that much just about planes.

What does this mean for us? It means the city's gonna have to start taking this aircraft noise seriously. Because if people are calling 311 more about planes than about the craters in our streets, something’s gotta give. This is something to watch, especially as warmer weather means more open windows, more outdoor dining, and more people noticing that constant hum.

Chi-Town on the wire — you already know.

Me and the crew break this down every morning on the show, you gotta tune in live at mornings.live.
