Your neighbors are really calling 311 about what
Look— Dallas on the wire, big hat, bigger story. You know we're always tracking what's happening down at City Hall, and sometimes the best way to see what folks are worried about is to check the 311 service requests. And y'all, the numbers for "Code Concern - CCS" are just wild.
We're talking **28,944 requests**. That's not a typo. Almost thirty thousand calls about code concerns. That's everything from overgrown weeds in someone's yard, to broken fences, to maybe even some unpermitted work happening. Think about how many people in Oak Cliff or Pleasant Grove have been calling in, just trying to keep their neighborhoods looking right. For comparison, the next highest issue, "Single Family Rental Needs Registration - CCS," only hit 1,290 requests. It's not even close.
It tells you a lot about what's on people's minds. It’s not just big, flashy projects or city-wide policy debates that matter to Dallasites. It’s the day-to-day stuff, the curb appeal, the neighbors who aren't quite keeping up their end of the bargain. What this means is that our city services are really stretched, trying to keep up with nearly 30,000 individual complaints. Keep an eye on how the city plans to address this backlog, especially as spring approaches and those weeds really start to stretch out.
