Your neighbors have a lot to say about code violations
Look— I'm always fixin' to tell y'all what's happening down at City Hall, and sometimes, the most interesting stuff isn't some big vote, but what folks are actually *complaining* about. And what y'all are complaining about, Dallas, is your neighbors' code violations.
So here's what happened: Out of all the 311 service requests we've seen lately, the "Code Concern" category is absolutely blowing everything else out of the water. We're talking 29,994 requests. *Veinte-nueve mil novecientas noventa y cuatro.* That's almost thirty thousand calls about things like overgrown weeds, junk in yards, maybe that rogue rooster somebody's got crowing down in Pleasant Grove. Compare that to the next highest, "Single Family Rental Needs Registration," which only had 1,328 requests. It's not even close.
This tells me that while the city council might be debating big projects like the Trinity River, folks on the ground are really feeling the impact of day-to-day neighborhood issues. It's the small stuff that adds up, ya know? What's next is seeing how the city responds to this deluge of code complaints. Are they hiring more inspectors? How are they prioritizing these calls? We'll be watching to see if those numbers start to dip.
Dallas on the wire — big hat, bigger story.
