Your City Hall does this while you are sleeping
Alright, let's talk about what's happening down at City Hall, or, as I like to call it, the place where decisions are made about whether or not we will ever get a decent stretch of road without a pothole that could swallow a small Zamboni. Honestly though, it’s where the rubber meets the road, quite literally sometimes.
The Agenda Review Committee had a fairly standard session on March 24, 2026. All motions, including the adoption of the agenda and approval of minutes from March 10, passed unanimously, 4 to 0. Councillors Knack, Stevenson, Rutherford, and Wright were all present and voted in favour. The interesting bit? They voted to meet both in public *and* in private for different items, specifically item 2.1, citing advice from officials under the *Access to Information Act*. It's like watching a play where one act is behind a curtain. You just wonder what's going on in there.
On the expense front, Councillor Clarke and Councillor Elliott both expensed $825.88 for accommodation at the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Convention in Calgary, held from November 12 to 14. Councillor Clarke also put in $685.00 for registration, while Councillor Elliott accounted for $348.00 in food and incidentals. Meanwhile, Councillor Stevenson received a gift of $120 from the Edmonton International Airport in late 2025. It's always good to see where the money goes. It’s not like they're spending it on a new arena, after all.
And for what keeps the 311 lines buzzing, "General Information" is still the undisputed champion, racking up 160,623 requests. "Routes and Schedules" for transit comes in second with 112,470, followed by "Collection and Disposal Services" at 53,724. It tells you a lot about what Edmontonians are trying to figure out or fix. Maintenance for "Snow and Ice" is still a perennial favourite, showing up with 43,660 requests – I guess some things never change, no matter how many times we survive winter.
Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did.
