Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories.
### What's happening in Halifax real estate right now?
Well, my son, it seems we're all about accessibility these days, and that's some good news, eh? The Canadian Real Estate Association, CREA, has been talking a lot about making the real estate journey easier for everyone. They just dropped Episode 72 of their "REAL TIME" podcast, and it's all about this with Jeffrey Kerr. He’s talking about how folks with mobility, visual, or auditory barriers need accommodations, and how important that is. It’s a good reminder that not everyone navigates the world in the same way, especially when you’re trying to find a place to call home, whether that's down by the waterfront or up in the North End.
It’s easy to forget, sometimes, with all the talk about market prices and interest rates, that buying a home is a deeply personal thing. And if the process itself puts up more roadblocks than it needs to, well, that's just not right. CREA’s also teasing a new host for "REAL TIME" in 2025, Shaun Majumder, which is some great East Coast talent right there. We'll have to see if this focus on accessibility translates into real changes on the ground for folks looking to buy here in Halifax.
Keep an eye out for how this talk about accessibility filters down to our local real estate offices.
