Kelowna just approved 14 new business licenses. What's coming?

Your city hall just voted on something big

Good morning from the Okanagan — the lake is calm, the vines are growing, and we have things to discuss.

Okay but here's the thing nobody talks about: your city hall is always making moves that affect your day-to-day, often before you even finish your first coffee. This week, the Kelowna City Council approved **14 new business licenses** for the month of February, according to the latest city records. While some of these are pretty standard — a new dental office on Gordon Drive, for example — one item really caught my eye.

### More Spots to Eat and Drink

A significant chunk of these new licenses points to a growing trend in our city: food and hospitality. We’re seeing a new restaurant open up on Bernard Avenue. And a new food truck is coming to the North End. This isn't just about more places to grab a bite; it reflects the constant churn and growth happening here. It's a sign that people are still seeing Kelowna as a place to invest, to open up shop, and to feed us all. You know I'm always happy about more good food.

For us, this means more choices when you're looking for dinner downtown or a quick snack after a bike ride on the Mission Creek Greenway. It also means more jobs and more vibrancy in neighborhoods that are really trying to find their footing. Keep an eye on how these new spots fare, especially with the summer season around the corner. We'll be watching to see if they stick around and become part of the fabric, or if they're just passing through.

That's the latest from the MiTL Sports Desk here in Kelowna. Have you eaten?
