Your City Hall spent the whole week staring at the sky
Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.
Look, this past week, City Hall was mostly looking up, not inward. It was a week dominated by what the weather was doing, and what it was threatening to do across Southern Alberta. We had warnings for blizzards and heavy snow, the kind that can shut down highways and make a mess of things in town.
The city's emergency services were on high alert, making sure Lethbridge was ready for whatever came our way from the *mokakin*, the weather up high.
Here’s what that meant for us:
* Snow removal crews were prepped.
* Emergency shelters had plans in place.
* Communication channels were open to keep folks updated.
The focus was on safety and preparedness. It's a reminder that no matter what debates are happening inside, sometimes the biggest decisions are made outside, under the big sky. It’s what you expect when you live where the wind talks back.
