Your City Hall watched the wild weather roll in
Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.
Look, this past week, City Hall wasn't exactly burning the midnight oil on new bylaws or budget tweaks. Instead, it was mostly a week of watching the clouds gather and the wind really pick up. The big topic of conversation, the main thing on folks' minds, was the weather.
The sky, you see, put on a bit of a show for us.
* Heavy winds whipped through the city.
* The threat of a late-season blizzard kept everyone on edge.
* Emergency services were on standby, ready for whatever *Niitsítapi* (the real people, the Blackfoot) know this land can throw at us.
It feels like the whole city, from the folks down at the Oldman River to the people living up in Blackwolf, was just collectively holding its breath. City Hall’s focus was less on policy, more on preparedness for whatever the Alberta weather decided to bring.
