Your neighbors are really loud, and the city knows it
So look—we’re always talking about the big stuff, right? Rezoning in Long Island City, the endless development in Williamsburg, the whole rent thing. But sometimes, the real story for people in New York City is just... life. And apparently, life here is loud.
Here's the thing: according to the latest 311 service request data, the top two issues people are calling in about aren't rats or potholes. Nah. It's noise. Straight up. We're talking 3,905 requests for "Noise - Residential / Loud Music/Party" and another 2,708 for "Noise - Residential / Banging/Pounding." That's like, over 6,600 complaints just about noise inside apartments. Then you got another 2,662 for "Noise - Street/Sidewalk / Loud Music/Party."
That’s a whole lotta people just tryna get some sleep. The MTA is broken, right? And your neighbors are blasting reggaeton at 3 AM. It really makes you wonder if anyone’s actually following up on these, or if we just keep calling 311 'cause what else are you gonna do?
