City Hall's really messing with your trash, or nah?
Listen, youse know I always keep it real with what's happening down at City Hall, and today's a jawn that got me a little heated. We talkin' 'bout illegal dumping. The 311 service requests are in, and "Illegal Dumping" is one of the top five issues folks are callin' about. I'm not even gonna hold you, it's right up there with "Information Request" for real.
The Numbers Don't Lie
This ain't no surprise to anyone who's seen a couch on a street corner or a pile of construction debris near a vacant lot in West Philly or down in South Philly. People are calling 311 for this jawn constantly. And what's wild is that the development activity data shows "N/A" for all the permits, like Building Mechanical or Zoning/Use. So if there's no major new development permits getting pushed through *right now* according to this data, why are we still seeing so much trash everywhere? Are folks just dumping without permits, or is it old construction getting cleared out and no one's properly disposing of it?
This means folks are seeing their blocks get trashed, and they're calling the city for help. What's next is seeing if the city actually *does* something about it, or if these calls just go into the wooder.
That's the jawn, Philly — we don't do fake out here.
