Your new home might be back on, oye
Look, here's the deal— remember all that talk about how we were running out of water and new housing developments were gonna slow way down? Turns out, a judge just blocked that Arizona water rule. This is big news for anyone trying to buy a house in the Valley, or if you're a developer with plans for more places to live.
The rule, which came down earlier this year, said that new housing had to prove a 100-year supply of "assured water," and a lot of the groundwater wasn't counting anymore. According to the city's releases, this block came down Wednesday, April 22nd. This means for now, those projects that were stalled or about to be stalled, they might have a path forward again. It's a temporary hold, but in Phoenix, "temporary" can sometimes last a while.
This whole thing has been a rollercoaster for builders and future homeowners. On one hand, we all know the desert is dry, and we need to be smart about water. On the other, people need places to live, mijo. This judicial block gives a little breathing room, but the core issue? Still here. We'll have to see how the state responds to this ruling.
