Your Richmond District Supervisor Just Quit. Now What?

Okay so, big news coming out of City Hall this weekend that’s got the whole Richmond District buzzing, and probably the rest of the City too.

## Your Supervisor Just Stepped Down

Supervisor Jackie Fielder, who represents District 1, which is basically the Outer Richmond to the Inner Richmond, announced she's resigning. This dropped late Friday night, March 28th, and it's a big deal. She's been in the hospital, and according to the City's press release, she's stepping down due to health reasons. Fielder was a strong voice for her district, especially with everything going on with affordable housing and keeping local businesses alive on Clement Street. Her absence creates a pretty immediate void.

What happens next?

* The Mayor will need to appoint an interim supervisor for District 1.

* That appointee will serve until a special election can be held.

* Residents in the Richmond District will be watching closely to see who gets the nod.

This sudden vacancy is going to shift some dynamics on the Board of Supervisors, especially with key votes coming up. That's the City, fam — fog, hills, and all.
