Okay so, straight out of the City Hall press releases, it looks like District 9 Supervisor Jackie Fielder is taking a leave of absence, but she's definitely not stepping down. This dropped Monday morning, and it’s a big deal for the Mission and Bernal Heights folks.
### D9 Supervisor Stays, For Now
The news on Monday, March 30, 2026, confirmed that Supervisor Fielder will stay in office but take a temporary leave. This comes after Sunday's releases, which showed a clear rallying cry from District 9 residents with lines like, “‘I want to see her back:’ District 9 closes ranks around Jackie Fielder, wary of mayoral pick.” This indicates some serious concern that the mayor might try to install an interim supervisor if Fielder had fully resigned. It’s a classic City Hall chess move, fam.
This move means D9 keeps its elected representative, even if she's not actively at the Board of Supervisors meetings for a bit. It’s hella important for continuity and for ensuring the district's voice isn't diluted by an appointed replacement, especially with all the housing and small business issues in that part of the City.
We’ll have to watch how long this leave lasts and who, if anyone, steps up in the interim to handle the day-to-day for District 9 residents. That’s the City, fam — fog, hills, and all.
