Sheryl Davis just pleaded not guilty. What's next for your city?

Your City Hall's new legal drama is just starting

Okay so, big news out of City Hall today: Sheryl Davis, who used to run the Human Rights Commission here in the City, entered a not guilty plea yesterday, Thursday, April 2nd. She's postponing her arraignment, which basically means she's not ready to go through that initial court process yet. This whole thing has been swirling for a minute, and it’s a big deal when someone who held such a key position in city government is facing these kinds of charges. It’s a lot for folks to process, especially after everything else that's been happening around city leadership.

### What’s Next for the HRC

Her tenure at the Human Rights Commission was hella impactful, and now the focus shifts to how the commission moves forward without her. For those of us who care about the City's commitment to equity and justice, this whole situation is definitely unsettling.

* Davis's plea was entered on Thursday, April 2nd.

* She formerly led the City's Human Rights Commission.

* The arraignment has been postponed.

We'll be watching to see when that arraignment is rescheduled and what the next steps are in this legal process. That's the City, fam — fog, hills, and all.
