Your 11,000 Dreamer neighbors just got a gut punch

Your Dreamer neighbors are facing new fears

Okay so, this hits different for a lot of us here, especially in the Outer Richmond and the Mission. The Bay Area’s 11,000 immigrant “Dreamers” are facing new fears after a federal ruling came down on Sunday, May 3, 2026. This isn't just a number; it's our neighbors, our friends, people who've built lives here.

Here's the deal:

* The federal ruling directly impacts the DACA program.

* It affects approximately 11,000 individuals across the Bay Area.

* These are folks who grew up here, went to school here, and contribute to our city's fabric every single day.

For a lot of families in the City, this is a gut punch. It brings back all that anxiety and uncertainty that we thought was behind us. It’s hard enough to make it here with the rent and everything else, then you throw this on top. What this means for our local economy, for our schools, for just the general vibe of the City, we’re gonna have to watch it closely.
