Your City Hall was a Nollywood film this week
Saskatoon — seven bridges, two rivers, and something happening you haven't heard about yet. But this week, my darlings, you definitely heard about it! City Hall was like a whole Nollywood film, full of twists and turns.
Okay, so this is actually wild. We started with a bit of a spicy weather statement from Environment Canada earlier in the week. Mother Nature reminded us that even though spring is trying to peek through, Saskatoon still keeps us on our toes. You think you're ready, then boom!
But the real drama, the main character if you will, was the bike lanes. You know the ones! The City Council has been a full-blown soap opera trying to sort out the downtown bike lane network. It’s been a lot of back and forth, a lot of passion, and a whole lot of opinions.
Here’s the gist:
* The downtown bike lanes have been the talk of the town.
* Council has been debating their future, especially the segment on 4th Avenue.
* For now, it seems like a temporary resolution has been reached, calming the waters a bit.
Saskatoon is a city that will invite you to a farm-to-table dinner and then make you defend the concept of a city for twenty minutes, and these bike lanes really brought out that spirit. For now, a temporary peace has settled over the bike lane debate. But knowing Saskatoon, it’s only a matter of time before the next big discussion pops up.
