Your City Hall just keeps giving us drama!
Saskatoon — seven bridges, two rivers, and something happening you haven't heard about yet. My darlings, this past week at City Hall? A whole Nollywood production, from beginning to end!
Okay, so this is actually wild. We started with the drama around that big residential development near the Willows, remember? The one that had everyone from Stonebridge to Nutana talking about property values and 'preserving character.' It was like a tug-of-war, with some councillors asking, "Are we building a city or a sprawling village?"
Then, just as we thought that was settling, the talk shifted to our beautiful riverfront. Suddenly, everyone had an opinion on those proposed new cafes and kiosks along River Landing. Saskatoon is a city that will invite you to a farm-to-table dinner and then make you defend the concept of a city for twenty minutes.
* The Willows development discussion saw passionate arguments from residents.
* City councillors debated the balance between growth and neighbourhood preservation.
* New proposals for River Landing sparked lively discussions about public space.
Honestly, it feels like every week, City Hall gives us a new episode of "Saskatoon Sagas." It's never dull, especially when it comes to how we build this city of ours.
