Your City Hall just okayed another short-term rental.
Vancouver City Council was busy last week, and one item on the agenda really caught my eye. On April 21, the Special Council approved Business Licence Application No. AL0188353 for a short-term rental at 1801-1788 Columbia Street. Councillor B. Montague and L. Zhou, and S. Orr voted in favor, and it passed unanimously, even with Councillor R. Bligh absent.
It's one of those decisions that feels like a microcosm of the city right now. We're talking about a rental in a residential building, which, you know, affects the housing supply. Every time one of these passes, it chips away at the places people can actually live, long-term.
