Your new favorite arcade just opened downtown

Your new favorite arcade just opened downtown

Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.

Well, here's the thing about what's happening down at City Hall. While the float planes hummed their usual tune in the Inner Harbour, new permits were quietly approved that might just brighten up your next stroll past Johnson Street.

According to the latest business licences, something called ARCADIA, an "Entertainment - Amusement Centre," just secured Licence #48095 at 707 Johnson Street. An arcade, you ask? Indeed. It seems Victoria is getting a new spot for a bit of classic entertainment, right there where the old buildings meet the new ideas. It's a nice thought, isn't it? A place where the deer probably wouldn't venture, but perhaps a welcome distraction for those of us who appreciate a good game.

Meanwhile, for those who love their pets, a new Downtown Veterinary Clinic has opened its doors at 736 Caledonia Avenue, with Licence #22734. And for the sweet tooths among us, Hazels Ice Cream Ltd. has two new mobile bicycle vendor licences, #40784 and #40447, ready to roam. Perhaps we'll see them cycling through Beacon Hill Park soon, offering a cool treat as the Garry oaks bask in the sun.

These are the quiet pulses of the city, showing us where new energy is building. We’ll be watching to see how Arcadia adds to the unique tapestry of downtown Victoria.
