Your Snow Questions are Top of Mind, hey?
Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.
We've got some interesting stuff coming out of the Civic Intelligence Monitor this morning, especially if you've been wondering about snow. You know, since the annual Winter Route Parking Ban was just lifted yesterday, April 2nd, according to the City's own media release. It seems a lot of you are still thinking about it, too.
According to real-time 311 data collected at 11:41 AM, the top complaint to the city in the last 24 hours is "Snow Information Hub Website Inquiry," with three calls. It's the highest single complaint type out of 11 total 311 calls in that timeframe. This means that while the plows might be done for the season, folks are still looking for information about our winter road clearing. We've all seen those ruts, hey?
Also, keep an eye out for some significant changes to our city's landscape. Seven demolition permits were issued between March 30th and 31st. Places like 881 Main Street in North Point Douglas and 563 Redwood Avenue in St. John's are slated for demolition. This kind of activity always makes you wonder what's next for these spots, especially in our historic neighbourhoods.
We'll be watching to see how the City responds to these ongoing snow questions, even with spring here.
