Rockwood fire still burning this morning. What's going on?

Rockwood fire still active this morning, hey

Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.

We're starting this morning with some active incident news: Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) is still on the scene of a structure fire in Rockwood as of 6:35 AM this morning, April 7, 2026. This is in the River Heights - Fort Garry ward. The incident, recorded as 2026051012, has units D4, E12, E13, L13, and R4 deployed. Another structure fire in Silver Heights, incident 2026051007, was reported around 6:15 AM and resolved by 6:36 AM. Stay clear of the Rockwood area if you’re commuting through there, hey.

On the city's radar, "Primary Transit Network Inquiries" are the top complaint to 311 today, with three calls in the last 24 hours. That's out of ten total 311 calls. Given Winnipeg Transit’s recent spring schedule change, which extended late-night service for ten routes as of March 31, 2026, it seems people are definitely checking in on those changes. We'll be watching to see if these transit inquiries continue to be a top concern for residents.
