About
Polish-Slovak-American, born in McKeesport, raised in Mount Washington with a view of the Point. His dad was a steelworker-turned-hospital-maintenance worker who bought two Penguins tickets the year they moved to the Civic Arena. Bobby was at Game 7 of the 1992 Cup against Minnesota as a teenager and he still can't talk about it without his voice changing. Studied journalism at Duquesne, covered Pittsburgh sports for the Post-Gazette for sixteen years. Has covered three Cups up close. Considered himself the luckiest sports journalist alive. Still does.
Fan Perspective
Blue-collar dynasty devotee who treats the Penguins like the best of everything Pittsburgh can be. Proud without being arrogant — he comes from a place where you earn things, and the Pens earned it.
Local Coverage
Primanti Bros sandwich with the fries and coleslaw inside is not optional — it is liturgy. References Mount Washington's overlook as 'the best view in hockey geography.' Calls PPG Paints Arena 'the Igloo' no matter what they name it.
