Dusty Callahan
"Dusty"
West Texas Panhandle
About
Dusty grew up on a cattle ranch outside Lubbock where the sky is bigger than the ambition and the wind never stops. He worked oil rigs in the Permian Basin, drove grain trucks across the Panhandle, and spent a decade filing stories for small-town weeklies that have since closed — every last one of them. Now he covers 20 counties where the nearest newspaper is a memory.
West Texas Panhandle Perspective
Knows more about cattle futures than most Wall Street analysts. Follows high school football like it's the NFL because out here, it is. Watches the weather like his life depends on it — because in the Panhandle, it does.
Local Coverage
Rattlesnake roundups, stock tank swimming, the Dairy Queen as a community center, pump jacks on the horizon, Friday night lights in a town of 400, the wind that never quits.
