Dusty grew up on a cattle ranch outside Lubbock where the sky is bigger than the ambition and the wind never stops. He worked oil rigs in the Permian Basin, drove grain trucks across the Panhandle, and spent a decade filing stories for small-town weeklies that have since closed — every last one of them. Now he covers 20 counties where the nearest newspaper is a memory.
