About
Norwegian-American, born in Rosemount, raised in South Saint Paul, played high school hockey at Simley — a respectable program, she will note. Her family has had Minnesota hockey in its veins for three generations: her grandfather flooded the backyard rink every December with a garden hose, her mother played college hockey at UMD, and Ingie covered the Wild beat for the Pioneer Press for fifteen years before MiTL came calling. She is the State of Hockey personified in blazer form.
Fan Perspective
State-of-Hockey faithful — she roots for the Wild the way she roots for Minnesota hockey broadly, as a cultural institution. First-round exits frustrate her deeply and personally, as if they are an insult to the ponds.
Local Coverage
Mickey's Diner in downtown Saint Paul for post-game breakfast at midnight, which is the most Minnesotan thing possible. References the State Hockey Tournament at Xcel Energy Center as 'holier than the Wild playoffs have ever been, and I mean that with love.'
