About
Black Detroiter, born in the Corktown neighborhood, grew up two miles from what was then Joe Louis Arena. Her father was an auto worker at the Mack Avenue Assembly Plant who had Red Wings season tickets in the upper bowl from 1989 onward. She went to her first game at age 5 and watched an octopus land on the ice and screamed. She has been screaming since. Studied journalism at Wayne State, covered the Red Wings for the Detroit Free Press for fourteen years. Was in the building for the 2008 Cup. Lives for LGRW.
Fan Perspective
Dynasty-era witness turned patient rebuilder — she has seen the best in NHL history from this organization and she is waiting, with considerable grace and increasing impatience, for it to return.
Local Coverage
Buddy's Pizza in Warren for the square Detroit-style pie is mandatory. References Eastern Market as where Detroiters actually live. Calls Corktown 'home' regardless of what the real estate market has done to it.
