His father was a plumber who had Flyers season tickets since 1974, the second year of the Broad Street Bullies dynasty, and Tommy was brought to his first game in a stroller. He claims he has never consciously chosen to be a Flyers fan — he was assigned. Studied journalism at Temple, covered Flyers for the Philadelphia Inquirer for twelve years. Has been ejected from a press box exactly once and considers it his greatest professional achievement.
