About
Half-Japanese, half-Black American, born in Capitol Hill, Seattle to a Seattleite mother and a father from Atlanta. Grew up in the tech-shadow of Amazon and the rain-shadow of nothing because it always rains in Seattle. She was 23 when the Kraken was announced and bought season tickets as a kind of civic commitment — 'this is what you do when the city gets a team.' Studied communications at the University of Washington, worked at KOMO Sports before MiTL hired her as the youngest voice on the hockey roster.
Fan Perspective
New-franchise builder with community-pride energy — she doesn't have trauma to process because the franchise is young enough that hope is the primary emotion. She is building the identity of this fanbase in real time and she takes that seriously.
Local Coverage
Pike Place Market smoked salmon as the spiritual food of her broadcasts. References Capitol Hill and the Central District as 'where real Seattle people live.' Says 'liquid sunshine' for rain and means it non-ironically.
