Your Abbotsford Canucks just lost the Calder Cup dream.

Your Abbotsford Canucks really tried, didn't they?

Good morning from the Valley — the fields are talking, the rivers are moving, and we've got stories from five communities that matter.

### You won't believe what our Canucks did this season

Alright, let's talk about our Abbotsford Canucks. Many of you, like me, were probably hoping they'd keep that Calder Cup dream alive after a pretty solid season. But, as we all know, sports can be a tough mistress. The team was eliminated from the AHL playoffs yesterday, losing 4-2 to San Jose. This means they're mathematically out of the running to defend the Calder Cup in 2026. It’s a bummer, no two ways about it, especially when you think about the buzz they brought to the Abbotsford Centre.

I've been hearing it around the gurdwaras in South Abbotsford and at the berry stands along Highway 1 — folks really got behind this team. Even if you're not a die-hard hockey fan, having a professional team right here in the Valley, playing at the Abbotsford Centre, brings a certain pride. It’s not just about the wins and losses; it’s about having our own team that represents us. The atmosphere during those home games, especially when the crowd was really into it, was something special.

What This Means for Abbotsford:

* **Community Pride:** The team brought a sense of local identity and entertainment, drawing people from across the Valley.

* **Local Economy:** Games at the Abbotsford Centre mean folks grabbing a bite at local eateries and stopping at businesses before and after the game.

* **Youth Inspiration:** For young hockey players out here, seeing a professional team right in their backyard is a huge motivator.

It’s a quiet end to a season that had its share of excitement. But, like everything else out here, we’ll regroup, we’ll look to next season, and we’ll keep that Valley spirit strong. We know what it means to rebuild and come back stronger, don’t we?
