The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Your March Madness plans just got way better

So here's the deal— you know how every time there's a big thing in town, everyone rushes down to Chippewa or maybe hits up Allen Street? Well, March Madness is here, and our downtown bars and restaurants are about to get absolutely swamped. I'm not even kidding, this is a huge deal for places like Big Ditch or even those spots near KeyBank Center. It's not just about the games, it's about showing off Buffalo. People come in from all over, they eat some wings – hopefully Duff's, not Anchor Bar, just sayin' – they see how friendly everyone is, and maybe they even catch a glimpse of the lake from the Outer Harbor. This is our chance to shine, you know?

For a city that's been through what we have, every little bump in business, every new face walking down Main Street, that's a win. It’s that blue-collar resilience shining through. We're not just rooting for the teams in the tournament, we're rooting for every bartender, every server, every small business owner who’s gonna be busting their butt this week. It’s that whole "Bills by a billion — and yeah, the city too" mentality. We show up for each other, always.
