That's how you wake up in Buffalo!

Alright, if you went to bed early last night, which I don't blame you, it was a school night, you missed a pretty solid 4-2 win for the Buffalo Sabres over the Montreal Canadiens right here at home. We needed this one, especially after that overtime loss to Boston. Peyton Krebs was buzzing all night even if he didn't get on the score sheet, and it really felt like the Sabres were driving the play. Devon Levi looked sharp, stopping 26 of 28 shots, making some big saves when Montreal tried to push back. It was a good, gritty win.

The scoring started early, with J. Doan getting one past Sam Montembeault just over four minutes in, assisted by Zach Benson – those kids are really clicking, huh? Then Rasmus Asplund, on the power play, made it 2-0. Montreal tried to make a game of it, getting a power play goal back from Nick Suzuki before the first period ended. But the Buffalo Sabres kept their foot on the gas. Jordan Greenway scored a nice one in the second period, and then Bowen Byram, on another power play, really put the game out of reach. That's two power play goals, folks – something we don't always get to say. Montreal got one more from Kirby Dach, but it was too little, too late. Let's Go Buff-a-lo!

This win pushes the Buffalo Sabres to 50-23-9, keeping us firmly in first place in the Atlantic Division with 109 points. We're on a pretty good run, 6-3-1 in our last ten. This kind of consistent play is what we've been waiting for, feels good to see the team not letting up. Next up, we got the Florida Panthers coming to town on Saturday. That's gonna be a tough one, they’re always a handful, but if we play like we did last night, with that kind of pressure and solid goaltending, we got a real shot. This city feels good this morning, like the smell of fresh baked bread from DiCamillo's.
