You gotta watch the Flames tonight, it’s going to be a grinder.

Alright, folks, it’s gameday in Cal-gree, and the Florida Panthers are rolling into the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight. This isn’t one of those division rivalries, not like those clowns up north, but it’s a chance to see how the Calgary Flames stack up against one of the top teams in the league. Last game, we actually looked pretty solid, strung together a win, and you could feel a bit of that spark coming back. We’ve been a bit of a mixed bag lately, like a lease well running dry, but there’s still some grit in this crew. I’m watching to see if our young guys, like Huberdeau against his old team, can really dial it in. Can they go toe-to-toe with Florida’s speed and come out on top? That’s the kind of measuring stick game that tells you what you’re really made of.

The energy around Calgary feels a bit like a Stampede morning — a little bit of expectation, a little bit of "let’s just see what happens." We're not expecting a parade down Stephen Avenue if we win, but a strong showing against the Florida Panthers would certainly get the Peters' Drive-In milkshake machines humming a little faster. It’s about building something, brick by brick, shift by shift. This isn't a must-win for the standings, not really, but it's a must-win for pride, for showing that this team can still scrap and take down a big dog. We need to play like every puck is gold, every battle in the corners is for keeps.

Red and gold forever — give’r, Calgary.
