Your Flames just keep finding ways to win

Alright, Calgary, you might've slept through some of it, but the Calgary Flames pulled out another gritty one last night, beating the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in a shootout right here in the 'Dome. It wasn't pretty, no, but it was two points, and we'll take 'em all day long. They were down early, Byfield for the Kings putting one past us in the first. Otto Määttä, though, he got us on the board in the second, a nice one from Olofsson and Strome. Then Byfield again to start the third, felt like a punch to the gut, but young Zach Parekh on the power play, from Coronato and Gridin, tied it up again. Took the whole shootout, but Yegor Sharangovich sealed it. That's a good win, that is.

Here's the thing about this team right now – they're not quitting. They dug deep, especially after getting down twice. Our goaltending was solid, kept us in it when the Kings were pushing. And for the young guys like Parekh to step up in those clutch moments, that tells you something about the character building in that dressing room. We got outshot, but only barely, 25-23. It wasn't a clinic, but it was a demonstration of just grinding it out. Felt like watching a crew on a rig, just working through the long hours 'til the job's done.

* Calgary Flames win 3-2 in a shootout against the Los Angeles Kings.

* Goals from Otto Määttä, Zach Parekh (PP), and Yegor Sharangovich (SO winner).

* Flames are now 30-34-7 with 67 points, 7th in the Pacific.

* This win keeps the Calgary Flames' slim playoff hopes flickering, now 6-4-0 in their last ten.

Look, this doesn't suddenly put us in the playoffs, no, but it’s a big shot of confidence, especially going into a tough stretch. Every point matters when you're trying to climb back in, and it's good to see this team not just roll over. The vibe around town this morning, from the folks grabbing coffee down Stephen Avenue to those starting their shifts early, is definitely a little brighter. Wins always feel good, especially the hard-fought ones.

Red and gold forever — give'r, Calgary.
