McMahon Stadium just changed its name. You won't believe why.

Your stadium is changing names, for real though.

So, you know McMahon Stadium, right? The big concrete beast off Crowchild Trail where the Stampeders have been doing their thing for, well, forever? Well, for the next six weeks, it's getting a bit of a rebrand, and honestly, it's pretty neat. It's going to be "McWomahon Stadium." Yeah, you heard me. McWomahon.

Now, before you go thinking it's some kind of typo, it's all for a good cause. This whole thing is a joint effort between the Alberta Women’s Health Foundation and the Calgary Wild FC — our new women's professional soccer team that's just kicked off their inaugural season. They're trying to shine a big ol' spotlight on women's health research. And for real though, it's about time we had more conversations about that. We've got the Bow River pathway system, which is basically our city's main artery, used by everyone, but sometimes we forget about the literal arteries that keep half our population going.

### Why This Matters for Calgary

This isn't just a fun little name change; it's got some real roots in what makes Calgary tick:

* **Community Spirit:** It ties into that Calgary spirit where we actually do rally for good causes, even if we sometimes pretend to be too cool for school.

* **Growing Sports Scene:** It puts a huge, visible stamp on the Calgary Wild FC, reminding folks that women's sports are here, they're professional, and they're worth supporting.

* **Health Awareness:** It sparks a conversation about women's health that frankly, doesn't get enough airtime. From Bridgeland's bustling brunch spots to the boardrooms downtown, this affects all of us.

This is Calgary — we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway. And this time, we're showing up for women's health. It's not just some flashy sign; it's a statement, right there where everyone driving by can see it. It’s a good reminder that our landmarks aren't just monuments to the past, but can also be billboards for a better future.
