The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Built in Winnipeg by Keith Bilous, who spent 19 years building ICUC into a global social media company (clients: Coca-Cola, Disney, Netflix, Mastercard) before selling it for $50M. CLT's new ID tech will change your airport life.

SHARE

Your commute is about to get a whole lot smoother

Alright so check it— everybody's buzzing about TSA PreCheck rolling out this new touchless ID system, right? No more fumbling for your license, just look at a camera and you're through. Sounds pretty good, man, especially with all the talk about government shutdowns and what that could mean for travel.

### CLT's Long Lines

Real talk, though, for us here in Charlotte? This hits different. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest in the world, and anybody who's flown out of here knows those security lines can stretch from the check-in counter all the way back to the parking deck sometimes. Remember when they were rallying out there last week, airport workers demanding changes to the American Airlines agreement? That whole scene just underscores how much pressure our airport is under, man.

* CLT's always growing, adding new routes like that nonstop to Abu Dhabi.

* More flights mean more people, and more people mean longer lines.

* Anything that streamlines that process, even a little, is a win for folks trying to get out of the Queen City.

We're a city that prides itself on growth, on being a 'world-class city,' but sometimes, man, the infrastructure just ain't caught up. If this touchless ID actually makes a noticeable dent in those lines at CLT, that's not just a convenience, that's a signal that maybe, just maybe, we're figuring out how to handle all this growth without losing our minds trying to catch a flight. It means less time stressing and more time grabbing a Bojangles biscuit before you board.

Queen City on the wire — morning's looking right.

My folks break this down every morning, you gotta catch it live at mornings.live.
