You won't believe what they just found in Rome

Good morning from the Atlantic — three provinces, five communities, and the stories that cross every border. Now look, I thought I'd seen it all, covering everything from the price of lobster in Port aux Basques to the never-ending Fredericton bypass debates. But this one, b'y, this one stopped me dead in my tracks. Archaeologists in Rome, over in the Ostiense necropolis, they've unearthed three skeletons with iron nails driven right into their chests. Some shocking, isn't it? The thinking is it was a ritual to keep restless spirits from wandering about. Can you imagine?

I mean, we've got our own share of old cemeteries here in Charlottetown, right? St. Peter's or the Old Protestant Burying Ground, full of history and whispers. But nobody's going around hammering nails into the departed to keep 'em put. We just trust they'll stay in their plot, or maybe wave 'em off with a friendly "God speed, b'y." This Roman thing, it's a whole other kettle of fish, isn't it? A bit dramatic for our gentle Island ways, I'd say. We're more likely to put a nice stone up and hope for the best.
