The Cincinnati Bengals just went shopping and we need to talk

Our Cincinnati Bengals are going to miss Logan Wilson more than you think

It's a tough one, folks. The retirement of Logan Wilson – just like that – it kinda sucker-punched us, didn't it? From Clifton to Paycor, we’ve watched him anchor that defense with a quiet intensity, always in the right place, always making the play. It leaves a massive, gaping hole in the middle of our Cincinnati Bengals defense that isn't just about tackles and stats; it's about leadership, about the guy who consistently got everyone lined up and understood Lou Anarumo's scheme inside and out. This isn't a team in a full rebuild, but this move, it forces their hand into making some big adjustments. We're still in that "filling holes" phase, but now the hole just got a whole lot bigger and more critical.

This isn’t the kind of news that gets anyone excited down by the Banks, especially when we’re all still kinda reeling from a 6-11 season. It feels like a piece of the foundation just shifted, you know? The Cincinnati Bengals roster still desperately needs a starting-caliber linebacker, and not just anyone – someone who can step in and command that defense. You have to wonder if they anticipated this, or if it just landed on them. I'm looking at the draft, of course, but also at who's still out there in free agency. They need to find a veteran presence, someone who can steady the ship, because the last thing this team needs is a young guy trying to learn on the fly while also trying to replace a fan favorite like Wilson.

My expectations for next season? Well, they just got a little more… complicated. It’s hard to feel optimistic when you lose such a core piece. We need to see how they address this, and quickly, before I start thinking about the chili at Biagio’s Bistro more than the defensive depth chart.

From Clifton to Paycor — Who Dey, it's Sunday.
