Dallas Animal Services is at capacity. Can you help?

Dallas really needs your help right now

So look— y’all know I love this city, but sometimes Dallas Animal Services makes me wanna pull my hair out. The kennels are full, like, *full* full. We’re talkin’ the highest capacity in years for our doggos and gatos. My mama, bendita sea, she always says, "Lupe, si tienes espacio en tu corazón, tienes espacio en tu casa." And right now, DAS needs us to open our hearts and homes.

This isn't just some abstract number; these are real animals, y'all. They're sitting in kennels, looking for their forever people. I’m thinking about all those sweet faces I’ve seen down there when I’ve volunteered, or the ones I’ve adopted over the years. This isn't just a shelter problem; it's a Dallas problem. It affects all of us, from Oak Cliff to Plano, because a healthy, compassionate city takes care of its most vulnerable.

* **What This Means for Dallas:**

* **Overcrowding:** More animals means more stress for the staff and the animals themselves.

* **Potential Euthanasia:** If we don't act, difficult decisions might have to be made.

* **Community Impact:** A thriving animal services program reflects on our city's values.

They're asking for fosters, adoptions, even just spreading the word. Imagine these sweet pups and kittens getting a chance to run around Klyde Warren Park, or snuggling up on a porch in Bishop Arts. It's time for us to step up, Dallas. Go down to DAS, or check out their website. Give one of these deserving animals a chance. Dallas on the wire — big hat, bigger story.

My crew at The Morning Wire talks about stuff like this every day — don't miss 'em at mornings.live.
