Front PageDraft Reaction

The Denver Broncos just picked their future. Here's the verdict.

Denver, we have to talk about what just happened. I'm here at the Plaza, the lights of Empower Field at Mile High reflecting off the glass, and frankly, I'm still trying to process the full picture of los Broncos' draft class. After all the chatter, all the mock drafts, all the 'what ifs' we debated over tamales at La Casita, the Denver Broncos went out and made their statement. It’s certainly… a statement.

When the Denver Broncos made their first selection, the energy here in Denver was palpable. There's always that hope, that belief that this is the year we find the missing piece, the player who helps us reclaim that Super Bowl 50 standard. The front office seemed committed to bolstering the defense, and they certainly leaned into that. Adding players like Bo Nix at quarterback and Jonah Elliss on the defensive line, it feels like they’re trying to build from the trenches out, which is always a sound strategy. The question, of course, is whether these are the *right* pieces for a team that, let's be honest, needs to win now. The secondary also got some attention, which is good to see after the Devon Key signing, but you have to wonder if it's enough.

The mood in Denver right now is... complex. It’s not euphoria, not exactly fury, but a very distinct Denver brand of cautious optimism, tinged with a healthy dose of "prove it." We’ve seen this script before. We know what championship football looks like in this city, and every pick, every decision, is measured against that legacy. The truth is, Denver expects greatness. This draft class, for now, feels... **Intriguing.**
