Here's what happened to the Edmonton Oilers last night (EDM 5, UTA 2)

SHARE

Your Oilers just kept grinding last night

Well, eh, if you slept through it, your Edmonton Oilers went down to Utah and took care of business against the Mammoth, winning 5-2. It wasn't the prettiest start, with Kerfoot getting one for Utah in the first, but Jack Roslovic quickly tied it up. The second period was a bit of a whirlwind. Matt Savoie potted a short-handed beauty, but then Utah’s Crouse answered right back on the power play. Just when you thought the momentum was shifting, Connor McDavid, bless his heart, put us back ahead just eight seconds later. Roslovic then snagged his second of the night, and McDavid sealed it with an empty-netter in the dying seconds of the third. It felt like one of those games where the Oilers just know how to find a way, you know?

That second period surge was massive, especially McDavid’s quick response after the Mammoth power-play goal. That’s the kind of leadership and clutch play that makes you believe, eh? It’s also good to see Roslovic continuing to find his stride, and young Savoie getting on the scoresheet with a shortie, no less. Evan Bouchard had himself a night with three assists, looking comfortable out there. Shots were 26-18 for the Edmonton Oilers, showing a bit more control than we’ve seen in some recent outings.

* Key goals from Jack Roslovic (2) and Connor McDavid (2)

* Matt Savoie's short-handed goal

* Evan Bouchard’s three assists

This win pushes the Edmonton Oilers to 35-28-9, giving us 79 points and holding firm in second place in the Pacific. It’s a road win, which always feels a little sweeter, knowing they can perform away from Rogers Place. The boys are now on a one-game win streak, eh, and with the playoffs looming, every point is gold. We need to keep this momentum going, stay consistent, and continue to chip away. Folks waking up across Edmonton this morning, maybe grabbing a coffee downtown on 104 Street, are feeling a little better, knowing the team is still pushing hard.

Oil Country — it's our time. This is Kow.

You need to hear the crew break this down over on mornings.live, eh? They get into everything.
