Your government just barked at the opposition. Really.

Your government is barking at who now?

Morning from The Rock — here's what's happening in Flin Flon. You know, you see a lot of things coming out of the Legislative Building down in Winnipeg, especially when it's committee time. But I gotta say, the story about the Manitoba NDP's conduct, with the premier laughing and making barking noises at the Tory leader, and the justice minister taking 30 minutes to answer a question? That one sticks in your craw a bit. It’s hard enough to get a straight answer on things that actually impact us up here, like what Hudbay is doing or the state of our highways, without grown adults acting like kids in the Hapnot Collegiate cafeteria.

### What Does This Mean for The Rock?

We’re a town built on hard rock and harder work. We expect people to get down to business, not to act like they're putting on a show at the Flin Flon Arts Council. When you're trying to figure out if our border-town identity is going to get any support from the province, or if there's going to be any help for the community hall, you need serious people doing serious work.

* This kind of behaviour just makes folks down at Phantom Lake shake their heads.

* It suggests a lack of respect for the process, and for the people who are actually trying to make things run.

* Up here, you learn pretty quick that theatrics don't dig ore or keep the lights on.

It’s just a reminder that while the big city might have its own brand of political theatre, up here on the Shield, we're still waiting for the main show: actual progress and answers. We've got enough challenges just dealing with the commodity cycles and keeping this town vibrant. We don't need our provincial leaders adding to the noise.
