Here's what happened to the Florida Panthers last night (FLA 2, VAN 5)

Your Panthers didn't come back like we needed last night

Ay, mi gente, you wake up this morning, you check your phone, and that 5-2 score against the Vancouver Canucks just *hits* you, doesn't it? It was rough out there on the road, watching us fall behind in that first period like we forgot how to play defense. Elias Pettersson, he was a problem, bro, getting two power play goals on us in that first frame. We got a little life when Matthew Tkachuk found the back of the net, and Sam Bennett gave us hope in the second, but it felt like we were always playing catch-up, always just a little short. Then they just pulled away again, you know? It's not the kind of fight we expect from our Florida Panthers, not after everything we've seen them do.

For real, though, let's talk about what happened. Pettersson got them started early, and then again after Tkachuk tied it up, making it 2-1 Vancouver. Then Rossi slipped one past us, and suddenly it's 3-1 before you can even finish your cafecito. Bennett's goal in the second, that was the spark, you know? Tkachuk with the helper, Verhaeghe too, it felt like we were about to turn the corner. But then Räty and O'Connor just iced it for them in the second and third, and that's all she wrote. Only 23 shots for us, compared to their 22, so it's not like we were totally outplayed in possession, but those few bad bounces, those penalties, they just killed us.

So what now, right? We're still hanging by a thread, 8th in the Atlantic, #9 in the Wild Card race, still at 69 points. That last 10 record, 4-6-0, that's not the championship swagger we worked so hard for, that's not the Florida Panthers we know. This loss stings, it pushes us back, it makes every single game from here on out a must-win situation if we want to get back into a playoff spot. Down here in Sunrise, you can feel that tension in the air, like a storm brewing over the Sawgrass Mills. We gotta find that fire again, that grit, because this is crunch time, and we can’t afford to let these games slip away.

Dale, Panthers — from South Florida, this is V-Del.

Mi gente, they're breaking it all down right now — catch the show live at mornings.live.
