Remember those 1,000 activists near Madison? They got pepper sprayed.

You won't believe what happened out by Madison

Yeah, so, you know how Wisconsin folks feel about animals, right? Especially when it comes to folks trying to, well, *mess* with 'em. Ope, I saw this headline this morning and had to double-take. About a thousand animal welfare activists tried to get into a beagle breeding and research facility out near Madison this past Saturday. A *thousand* of 'em, which is wild. Police ended up using rubber bullets and pepper spray to turn 'em back. You betcha, it got a little heated out there.

### What This Means for Green Bay

Now, Madison's a bit of a drive, about two hours from the Fox River, but the sentiment here, it rings true across the whole state. We care about our critters. From the dairy cows up in Door County to the deer we're chasing in the fall, there's a strong connection. A lot of folks around here, they might not agree with research facilities, you know?

* **Community Values:** It really highlights that strong working-class, plainspoken value system we have in Green Bay. We're proud of our land, our animals, and our way of life.

* **Local Perspective:** I'm thinking about the families I know who volunteer at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, or the folks who take their kids to feed the ducks down by the Fox River Trail. It's a different world from downtown Madison, but the core feeling is the same. People here, they've got strong opinions, and they'll stand up for 'em, you betcha.

It's one of those stories that just makes you shake your head and go, "Well, there goes Wisconsin again, showing its true colors." Good on the police for keeping things from getting totally out of hand, but man, a thousand people trying to storm a place? That's quite a scene.

Green Bay on the wire — cold hands, warm hearts, and Lombardis.

My buddy Keith and the crew are always talking about stuff like this — catch 'em live at mornings.live.
