The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. They hammered nails into 3 Roman skeletons. What?!

You won't believe what they found in Roman graves

Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories. And let me tell you, this one here, it’s a real head-scratcher. You know how people from away think we’re a little slow out here? Well, maybe it’s because we’re not spending our time trying to figure out ancient Roman funeral rites. Turns out, archaeologists digging in Rome’s old Ostiense necropolis found three skeletons, and each one had iron nails hammered right into their chest. Not like, next to them, or in the coffin — *on* them. The talk is it was to stop restless spirits. Can you imagine that? Trying to keep the dearly departed from wandering around and causing a ruckus.

Now, I've heard some wild stories on the Halifax waterfront, some real ghost tales from the old North End houses, but nobody's ever gone and nailed a person down to keep 'em quiet. We got our own ways of dealing with the past here, mind you. You walk up Citadel Hill, you feel the history, sure, but it’s more about remembering than nailing things down. And if a spirit *did* get restless in Halifax, I reckon we'd just offer 'em a donair and a pint of Keith's, maybe a fiddle tune, and tell 'em to settle down. Works for most folks, living or otherwise.

Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories.

You know, the crew on the morning show, they'd have a laugh with this one — catch 'em live every day at mornings.live.
