They're sneaking 6% fat milk into your Hamilton grocery store

You will NOT believe what they're trying to sneak into our milk

Good morning from the Hammer — steel town, art town, your town. Don't look away.

Listen, I'm from the Mountain, right? We've got enough going on with the Jolley Cut traffic and trying to figure out if that new cafe on Locke Street is actually going to make it. So when I heard about *this* – a new 6% fat milk showing up in Ontario grocery stores – I had to squint. Six percent! We're talking about milk with almost double the fat of whole milk. Who asked for this? Seriously, are we trying to make butter in our coffee now? It's like they're trying to bring back the old-school cream-top milk bottles, but without the actual cream on top.

### What's in your fridge?

This isn't some niche, organic-only thing, either. This 6% milk is hitting regular shelves, right next to your 2% and your skim. It’s wild because for generations, "whole milk" was the fattiest you could get, and even that's only 3.25%. Now, suddenly, there's this new option, and it just showed up without much fanfare. It makes you wonder who's pushing this, and why now? Are people really craving fattier milk that much? Or is this another one of those things where we’re just expected to accept whatever the big dairy companies decide to give us?

* **Higher Fat Content:** Almost double that of standard whole milk.

* **New to Ontario:** Just started appearing in stores.

* **No Clear Demand:** Makes you wonder about the market for it.

For us here in Hamilton, where people are already watching their budgets and trying to make healthy choices for their kids, another, potentially more expensive, dairy option just feels… unnecessary, right? It's not going to solve the traffic on the Linc, or help the Barton Street businesses, or even make those ćevapi taste better. It's just... more fat in your milk. Maybe this is a big deal for some fancy cafe on James Street North, but for the rest of us just trying to get our coffee and cereal ready before work, it’s just one more thing to think about.
