The Kansas City Chiefs just went shopping and we need to talk

We need to talk about this Jack Cochrane deal, Kansas City.

### Just What Are We Doing Here?

From the outside, you might look at a 6-11 record and think, "rebuild." But then the Kansas City Chiefs re-sign Jack Cochrane, and I'm left scratching my head like I just ate too much of that fiery sauce from Arthur Bryant's. Don't get me wrong, Cochrane's a solid special teams guy, a worker bee, the kind of guy who gives you everything he's got. That, right there, is admirable. But for a team that finished 6-11, staring down a six-game losing streak to end the season, this move feels less like "going all-in" or even "rebuilding," and more like... treading water. It's a depth move, sure, and you need those. But the faithful down at the Power & Light District, they're not talking about special teams contributions when they're dreaming of Super Bowl LIX. They're dreaming of a dominant pass rusher or a wide receiver who can consistently get open.

The buzz around town, especially at Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, is about who isn't here yet. We've got holes, big ones, especially on the defensive line and at wideout. We need a consistent threat on the edge who can get after the quarterback, someone who can disrupt an offense and make Arrowhead loud even louder. And let's be honest, we need another playmaker on offense who can take the pressure off. This move tells me the Kansas City Chiefs are trying to fill in the margins, hoping the existing core can carry the load. My expectations for next season? They're tempered. This team, as currently constructed, isn't making a deep run. We need a splash, a move that makes you spill your coffee on the way to work, not a quiet re-signing that makes you nod politely.
