Victoria Park is a dump and it makes your Kitchener correspondent furious.

Good morning from the Region — three cities, one wire, zero time for small talk. Let's go.

### Victoria Park is becoming a total mess

Seriously, you will not believe what people are doing in Victoria Park. We had a scorcher of a holiday yesterday, right? And what happens? People go to one of our most iconic spots, our *grand dame* of parks here in Kitchener, and they just… toss their trash right into the water. Food, wrappers, everything. Someone even saw adults doing it. It's just not right, and frankly, it's making my blood boil a little.

Here's the thing about this region: we're constantly trying to balance our history with our future. Victoria Park, with its beautiful boathouse and the clock tower, it's the heart of our community, especially during Oktoberfest. It's where generations have come to relax. Seeing it treated like a garbage dump, like someone's personal waste bin, it’s a real kick in the teeth when we're trying to keep our city clean and appealing for everyone. It makes you wonder what kind of pride people have in our shared spaces.

* **Environmental Impact:** All that plastic and food waste ends up in the water, affecting the wildlife and the overall health of the park's ecosystem.

* **Community Shame:** When visitors, or even residents, see our public spaces disrespected like this, it reflects poorly on our community as a whole. We're better than this.

* **Call to Action:** This isn't just a park issue; it's a Region issue. We need to remember that our city, whether you're in Downtown Kitchener or Uptown Waterloo, thrives when we all take responsibility for it.

This isn't some back alley; this is Victoria Park, the place where we celebrate our heritage and our community. We need to do better, Kitchener. We really do.
