Your summer BBQ is about to get way more expensive.

Your BBQ is about to get a whole lot pricier

Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.

So, you know how we're all looking forward to firing up the grill out back, maybe down by the Oldman River or even up on the West side with that view of the High Level Bridge? Well, look, industry experts are saying your summer barbecue is going to cost you a good bit more this year. They're pointing the finger at cattle supply, which is still tight after a few years of rough droughts. Even with prices going up, people around here still want their beef, so demand isn't really slowing down.

### What This Means for Lethbridge Grilling

This isn't just some big-city problem. We’re right here in the heart of cattle country. When supply is tight, it hits us close to home.

* **Ranchers Feel It First:** Our neighbours on the ranches west of town and out towards Picture Butte are working hard, but the land has had its say.

* **Grocery Bill Impact:** Expect to see those prices jump at local spots like Sobeys on the south side, or when you’re doing your big shop at Superstore by the Park Place Mall.

* **Local Restaurants:** Even our favorite burger joints downtown might have to adjust their menus or their prices.

Look, whether you’re planning a big cookout at Henderson Lake Park or just a quiet evening on your back deck in Tudor Estates, this is going to pinch your wallet. It’s a real reminder of how connected we are to the land and the weather out here. We rely on that sunshine and rain, and when it doesn't come, everyone from the ranchers to the folks grabbing a steak for dinner feels it.
