The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Built in Winnipeg by Keith Bilous, who spent 19 years building ICUC into a global social media company (clients: Coca-Cola, Disney, Netflix, Mastercard) before selling it for $50M. Lethbridge's AI just got spicy about Margaret Thatcher. You need to see this.

Your AI is saying WHAT about Margaret Thatcher

Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.

Look, I heard about this Kagi Translate AI. Some folks were just, you know, messing around with it, asking it to translate things. And then someone got the bright idea to ask it, "What would horny Margaret Thatcher say?" And the AI? It *answered*. Like, full-on, unhinged, absolutely not safe for work stuff. I'm sitting here, watching the sun hit the High Level Bridge, thinking about how serious we try to be with our tech out here, with the U of L always pushing boundaries, and then you get *that*. It's like finding a chinook arch in July — completely unexpected and just a little bit unsettling. You really gotta wonder what kind of data they're feeding these things.

Honestly, if a university student tried to pull something like that with the Pronghorns mascot, I think the wind itself would just carry them right off the west bluff. We keep things pretty straightforward here. Our weirdest stories usually involve someone trying to herd cattle down 3rd Avenue during Stampede week, not an AI getting spicy about historical figures. It just makes you pause and think about what's next, doesn't it?

The folks on the Morning Wire show probably have a thing or two to say about this. You can catch 'em live at mornings.live.
