The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Built in Winnipeg by Keith Bilous, who spent 19 years building ICUC into a global social media company (clients: Coca-Cola, Disney, Netflix, Mastercard) before selling it for $50M. Your Council President got busted for what on Sunset?

Your council president is doing WHAT now

Okay so check it—you know how sometimes you hear stuff and you're like, "no mames, this can't be real life"? Well, the LAPD union is straight up calling for an investigation into our *own* City Council President. Yeah, the one who's supposed to be, like, leading the whole show. They're saying this dude, right, allegedly tried to pull some strings with a phone call during a traffic stop. Like, can you even imagine? You get pulled over on Sunset, right before you hit Echo Park, by the place that used to be a laundromat, and you're just gonna call somebody up to get out of it? That's not how it works for *us*, fam.

This is the kinda stuff that just makes you wanna throw your hands up, you know? Like, we're out here dealing with diesel prices going through the roof, trying to figure out how to get a TAP card loaded 'cause Metro's systems are all wonky, and then you hear this? It's like, really? While we're all trying to make ends meet and navigate the actual issues facing people in East LA, the folks at the top are allegedly trying to skirt the rules? It just adds to that feeling, ya sabes, that there's one set of rules for them and another for everyone else trying to get by.

That's the real LA, fam — east of the 110.

Oye, you gotta hear what the crew says about this tomorrow morning – catch it live, mornings.live!
